It’s not easy to improve on an industry-standard machine, nor do companies normally risk tinkering with a product that works. But that’s just what crack sealing equipment manufacturer Ryno Worx did.
After listening to feedback from contractors about its popular RY10 PRO Crack Seal Melter, the company made adjustments. The result is the RY10 Elite, a safer, more efficient version of the RY10, and undoubtedly, the most advanced and innovative push melter on the market.
“It’s like going from an iPhone 1 to (an) iPhone 12,” Leigh Kuhn, president of Ryno Worx, explains in a Facebook Live video introducing the RY10 Elite. “We baked in every ounce of feedback that we practically could over the last five years of listening, and we were able to architect something really cool.”
Something really cool and practical, too: engineers considered every detail of the RY10 Elite, evidenced by the Ryno Worx insignia on the side of the kettle. Yes, the honeycomb lettering makes for a sleek look; it also reduces heat loss, so the temperature of the crack fill stays consistent.
Read below for a breakdown of the new features of the RY10 Elite.
1. Optimized Kettle
The kettle of the RY10 Elite has been optimized for convenience and safety. It now holds up to 60 pounds of crack fill (two 30-pound bricks), a 30% increase in capacity from previous models.
You’ll also notice a slight forward lean. That’s intentional, to keep any accidental spillage away from the machine’s operator. And with a lid that now opens front to back, rather than side to side, users can fill the kettle from three sides, making its positioning more flexible.
2. One-Of-A-Kind RynoValve
The stainless steel valve is perhaps the most important update on the RY10 Elite. It’s the industry’s first that doesn’t require preheating.
Maintenance has been simplified as well, not just because the valve, now outside the kettle, keeps hot material inside, but it’s also easy to remove. Unscrew the four bolts and drop the entire apparatus into your preferred cleaning solution. Dry it, and latch it back on.
Finally, the spreader shoe has been designed to go forward and backward, which prevents puddling—a nuisance contractors will be happy to avoid.
3. New Central Dash
All elements of control for the RY10 Elite are right at your fingertips with the updated dash. The digital thermometer is the first thing you’ll notice as you take the handles—no more struggling to read temperatures on a vibrating machine.
Then there’s the burner starter and igniter, located on opposite sides of the dash. Everything is centrally located, with an added level of protection provided by the handlebars.
It’s not just the optimized features that make the RY10 Elite stand out. It’s also the user-friendly touches that will have you completing more jobs:
- Aluminum handles make lifting the machine easier, while also providing an area to tie the RY10 Elite onto a truck bed.
- Handlebars can be adjusted from 34 inches to 42 inches.
- Adjustable tension on the control rod reduces fatigue on long days of crack filling.
It all adds up to a highly efficient, top-quality machine that will make you more money.
You can get a closer look at the RY10 Elite at the National Pavement Expo & Conference in Nashville at the end of January. The machine is expected to ship in June, but you can place an order at Asphalt Kingdom by putting 10% down.
